Kis'thena

The content of this page applies to Ilisara’s past, and is not current history.

Overview

There are a few houses dotting a small, nondescript, grassy peninsula that reaches into Ilisara’s sea. These houses belong to the elven inhabitants of Kis’thena. Crops of corn, radishes, potatoes, and other hearty plants spread across the hillside and border the small town of Kis’thena, which is nestled in a valley just behind the peninsula. Most farmer’s houses have a small enclosure for pigs and chickens, and the more established ones have barns to house a horse or two.

The hills around Kis’thena are obscured by forests. There are a few empty, run-down cottages and farms of families who have perished to disease or left Kis’thena to seek fortune elsewhere. In general, Kis’thena’s community is close-knit and made of humble farmfolk.

Buildings

There are five main buildings in Kis’thena, and a well in the center of town for fresh water.

Gullwing Inn — Travelers can stop by this small inn to get a bite to eat and sleep in a soft bed. The inn only has six rooms, and it is seldom full. Inhabitants of Kis’thena come to the inn to drink in the evenings. The inn is run by Orelia Windrider.

Blacksmith — The smith, Cardan, can make simple blades such as swords and daggers, but his craft is unrefined and mostly dedicated to forging horseshoes, plows, silverware, and other mundane items for townsfolk.

Watchtower — The watchtower is manned by Fenlis and Medren, the town’s guards. They are meant to apprehend thieves and prevent petty crime, but tend to be lax and hands-off in their approach. The guards are also supposed to keep watch for any dwarven militia and defend the town if any arrive.

Shrine — There is a small, open-air shrine to Varos with a large carved statue of him inside.

Town Hall — Ayla Hylassar is the town’s unofficial mayor and healer who lives in the town hall. The town hall is a converted barn with a small office for Ayla, some bookshelves, and an open space for official town events (like festivals and town meetings). It holds historical records, books, and supplies for writing letters and educating young elves. Couriers don’t often visit Kis’thena so communication outside of it is infrequent. There is a small shrine to Remedia here.

NPCs

Orelia Windrider — Innkeeper. Orelia is a plump elven woman who is motherly and dutiful. She listens to all the gossip of the town and can be bribed to give information away.

Cardan Firebrand — Smith. Stoic, serious, and proud of his craft.

Fenlis & Medren — Fenlis is sneaky. Medren is mischievous. Both shirk their duties and drink a lot with the farmers. They have good reputation with the townspeople for being bards and entertainers.

Ayla Hylassar — Fair, noble, but bored. Ayla wishes she worked in a real governmental office in a bigger town. She’s always looking for adventure and something to break up her bland work. She knows a little bit about druidism and tends to take on the burdens of healing townsfolk and animals. She also works as a midwife for the town.
