King Lokkhan

King Lokkhan was the leader of the dwarvish people during the emergency created by the Dark Dwarves stealing Mithrus and Ilterendi. His legacy is responsible for the militocracy that rules over the dwarven people.

A Leader in a Time of Crisis

When the Dark Dwarves destroyed the dwarven senate, there was chaos. The entire leadership caste had been effectively wiped out in the coup, and the people were in chaos. Looting and rioting in Snowpeak was widespread, and rampant. The military looked to it's highest ranking general for guidance on what to do, and Lokkhan stepped forward to bring order. His soldiers secured the streets of Snowpeak, and arrested known Dark Dwarf sympathizers.

His swift and direct response brought order to the city. Soon after, his cool head allowed him to negotiate with Queen Veladriel Dawnwalker to end the conflict, and return Ilterendi to the Sun Elves.

Lasting Reprecussions

The effectiveness of a military-run state was appealing to the ultranationalist dwarven people. They insisted that the old senate had become an untenable bureaucracy that was a blight at the heart of their society. Feeling the pressure of the mandate from his people, Lokkhan begrudgingly allowed himself to be crowned King, but insisted that his heir would not be hereditary like the Sun Elves, but rather be his successor when he retires from the military. This established the social order for the dwarves.

There have been social groups that have been repressed as a result. Dwarven minorities feel that they have no voice in their governance, but respect that they lost that right when their society failed them. Dissent is taboo in the new order, and unconformity is heavily shunned. Often members that deviate from the dwarven societal norms are outcasts. Lokkhan instituted the policy of drafting these outcasts and sending them to the border of Isandor at Fort Burmos. This has caused the population of soldiers at Fort Burmos to be extremely liberal leaning, and Confederate supporting, which is ideal for soldiers on the front line that have to mingle with forces from all member races of the Confederacy.
