In Ilisara, death is something to be feared and revered. It is well known that Kerrigor is the overseer of a mystical Afterlife, but his role is not explicitly defined. Some believe he is an arbiter, judging souls for their merit after death; others believe he carries out sentences on souls who have sinned; still others see Kerrigor as a guide who merely carries the souls of the worthy to an eternal paradise. There are shreds of truth to each belief. In any case, death is accepted as the natural continuation of life in Ilisara, and Kerrigor is the sole god who commands it. He holds the respect of almost all people.

Decay, disease, and plagues that corrode at life are Vandun’s domain. Undead creatures are also in Vandun’s domain because they are an abomination, a horrid mixture of life and death that should not be. Kerrigor frowns upon necromancy and black magic meant to subvert the natural order. His followers tend to be spiritual guides who commune with the dead, predict fates of the living, and practice soul magic meant to bind or free others.

Kerrigor is a very busy god. His domain fuels soul magic inside and outside Ilisara. He personally escorts souls to the Afterlife upon death, and he also oversees resurrections, funerals, and other rituals related to soul-magic, life, or death. Seldom does he interact with mortals other than to reap their soul upon their natural death.
