Chef

IlisaraRules.png

Chefs know the value of a properly seasoned stew and can tell the difference between spices by sight, taste, scent, and even their texture. From the soldiers marching in the fields, to the warm haven of an inn, to the bowls of the largest keeps, to the homes of the common folk you know that food and need of food is what brings together everyone of every nation, religion, race, and creed. Food is your passion, it is your mission, it is your religion.

What Flavor Are You?

Pun aside, chefs come in multiple varieties. Are you a gourmet chef who serves the social elite? Or a humble traveler whose talent is unknown? Choose which flavor suits you best.

Common Chef

You can find the choicest and best ingredients in just about any environment. For any roll relating to finding food or ingredients, roll with Advantage. In your pursuit of a veteran palate you have tasted foods both fair and foul, and thus have grown resistant to them. You gain the Resist Poison skill.

Gourmet Chef

You have made it your mission to taste and create only the finest and most expensive foods possible. You refuse to eat the bland slop of the masses and often insist on making your own food at inns. In situations involving the social, political, and economic elite you may be hired to cook some of your gourmet dishes. When dealing with other cooks you have an inspired an almost religious reverence for your techniques and cooking styles. You gain a +5 bonus to any persuasion or intimidation rolls against cooks.

Cooking Ingredients

Chefs use special ingredients to create dishes. You will need a Cooking Kit (costs 50 gold), and the required ingredients to craft anything with the Chef profession. Most ingredients can be purchased in town or harvested in the wild.

Cooking Ingredients Material Quality Suggested gold price per ingredient
Carrots, potatoes, corn, salt, pepper, eggs, butter Common 5 gold
Durian fruit, enoki, fugu fish, midnight salmon Rare 50 gold
Unicorn meat, deepsea lavafish, leedsichthys extract Epic 150 gold

Harvesting Reagents

It takes approximately ten minutes to collect and store cooking ingredients. Harvesting plants or meat requires a DC 10 Dexterity check.

Crafting Time

Chefs must have a Cooking Kit and work, undisturbed, for 1 or more hours to make food and beverages. A Cooking Kit contains a small hot plate for cooking, but if the recipe you’re making requires an open flame, you’ll need flint and tinder and some firewood to make a campfire. All recipes require fresh water to create.

When you craft food, roll a D20 to determine how it turned out.

  • On a Natural 1, your food is burnt, spoiled, or otherwise inedible and does not provide any benefit
  • On a 2-5, your food tastes bad
  • On a 6-10, your food tastes alright
  • On an 11-15, your food tastes good
  • On a 16-19, your food tastes delicious
  • On a Natural 20, your food is divine and its effect OR duration (DM discretion) is doubled
