The sun is the bestower of light to the totality of the cosmos. With his unblinking, all-seeing eye, Varos is the stern guarantor of justice. With the almost universal connection of light to enlightenment or illumination, Varos is also the source of wisdom. Varos sits at the head of Ilisara's pantheon as a benevolent justicar. He attempts to keep the peace between the other gods and strives always for the benefit of mortals. His qualities—sovereignty, power of beneficence, justice, and wisdom—are central to any government, and his image is popular in courthouses and places of law.

Varos created [[Sun Elves]], the first race to live on Ilisara. Sun Elf Kings and Queens are said to be blessed by his divine power. Other creations of Varos include [[avianfolk]], [[dragons]], and other winged beasts. Because Varos is good-aligned and a very active member of the [[pantheon]], he is frequently worshipped alongside other deities by humans. As befits a sun god, Varos' major festivals take place on solstices and equinoxes, and many [[ritual events]] take place on the cusp of a new season.

Like [[Varos]], Selune's imagery can be found in courts of law, as she is the deity of truth. It is said that Selune can tell no lies.

In some places, statues, shrines, and local tales describe Varos as male, particularly in the south. In the north, Varos is more frequently depicted as female. Both depictions are accurate. Varos is genderfluid and chooses to present as female or male based on what feels appropriate. In any form, Varos appears angelic with white feathered wings and glowing golden eyes set into an aristocratic elvish face. His skin is brown and tattooed with golden designs. Known to be attached to appearances, Varos' outfits frequently cycle through various styles and fashions. His most classic adornments are flowing robes and silks.

Selune's most devout followers are the Dark Elves. In ancient times, a group of Varos's [[Sun Elves]] ventured into the [[Snowfell Mountains]] on a mission of discovery. They grew weary, and were ill-prepared for the dangers that the terrain presented. Lost, starving, and on the brink of death, the group of elves implored Varos to save them. The elves believed Varos had abandoned them, and turned to worship Selune instead. They came to be known as [[Dark Elves]].

The moon is tranquil, calm, and mysterious. It is the celestial force that influences the tides, changes lycanthropes, orders reproductive cycles, and lights the darkness. Selune reigns in solitude. Each star is a reflection of her beauty. All around the world, people use the stars and moon to navigate; thus, Selune's followers are very diverse. They pray to Selune at night by cupping their hands to fill their palms with moonlight, before bringing their hands to their heart.

Like Varos, Selune's imagery can be found in courts of law, as she is the deity of truth. It is said that Selune can tell no lies.

Selune's most devout followers are the Dark Elves. In ancient times, a group of Varos's Sun Elves ventured into the Snowfell Mountains on a mission of discovery. They grew weary, and were ill-prepared for the dangers that the terrain presented. Lost, starving, and on the brink of death, the group of elves implored Varos to save them. Selune came to their rescue instead by lightning the night sky with a multihued aurora that guided the elves to a small, secluded shelter in the mountains near a freshwater spring. The elves believed Varos had abandoned them, and turned to worship Selune instead. They came to be known as Dark Elves.
