As characters level up in the Ilisara RPG, they gain bonuses to various stats, and access to new and exciting abilities. This page is intended as a reference for character progression from level 1 all the way to level 10.
Level 1 characters are equivalent to peasants, and level 10 characters are seasoned, epic heroes.

Level-By-Level Upgrades
Level 1
1. Choose a race. You can choose from the races in the Confederacy, Other Playable Races, or make your own.
2. Assign points to your Attributes. You have 10 points to start with. You have 10 Hit Points.
3. Choose 3 Skills you are proficient with.
4. (Optional) Choose a profession.
5. Design your Basic Attack. (Arcana caster only)
Level 2
1. Design a Combat Passive for your character.
2. Allocate 4 more points to your Attributes.
3. Add 10 hit points.
Level 3
1. Design a Tier 3 Ability for your character.
2. Allocate 2 more points to your Attributes.
Level 4
1. Allocate 2 more points to your Attributes.
2. Gain proficiency with a new Skill.
3. Add 10 hit points.
Level 5
1. Design a Tier 2 Ability for your character.
2. Allocate 2 more points to your Attributes.
3. Your Basic Attack deals +2 damage. (Arcana caster only)
Level 6
1. Allocate 2 more points to your Attributes.
2. Design a second Combat Passive for your character.
3. Add 10 hit points.
Level 7
1. Design a second Tier 3 Ability, or increase the damage/healing output of your first Tier 3 Ability.

Level 8
1. Allocate 2 more points to your Attributes.
2. Gain proficiency with a new Skill.
3. Add 10 hit points.
Level 9
1. Design a Tier 1 Ability for your character.
2. Allocate 2 more points to your Attributes.
Level 10
1. Design a second Tier 2 Ability, or increase the damage/healing output of your first Tier 2 Ability.
2. Allocate 2 more points to your Attributes.
3. Your Basic Attack deals +1 damage. (Arcana caster only)
4. +1 to all attack rolls.
5. Now that you have reached level cap, choose one: Add 10 hit points, or Add an additional 2 skill points. Further customization is also allowed, although characters cannot have more than two Combat Passives:
- Sacrifice 2 stat points to gain a skill
- Sacrifice skill for 2 stat points
- Sacrifice 10 hit points for 2 stat points
- Sacrifice 2 stat points for 10 hit points
- Sacrifice Combat Passive for 10 hit points
- Remove Tier 3 or Tier 2 ability to empower an equal tier ability
- Sacrifice 10 HP and a Combat Passive to empower a Tier 3 ability
- Sacrifice 20 HP for an additional Tier 3 ability
- Sacrifice 30 HP for an additional Tier 2 ability
Level 10 Cheat Sheet
Attributes: Start with 10 points, gain 4 at level 2, and 2 every other level. At level 10, you have 30 points total.
Hit Points: Start with 10, gain 10 at levels 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. At level 10, you have 60 HP total.
Skills: Start with 3, gain one at level 4, and one at level 8. At level 10, you have 5 skills total.
Combat Passives: Gain one at level 2, and one at level 6
Perception: Start with 0. Gain a bonus to Perception checks equal to your Knowledge modifier.
Movement Speed: 0-3 Dexterity Low, 4-7 Dexterity Medium, 8-10 Dexterity High.
Defense: See Basic Equipment for details. If you're wearing a full set of basic gear with no material modifiers, here's what you can get:
- 0-2 Strength/Stamina +2 Defense
- 3-4 Strength/Stamina +3 Defense
- 5 or more Strength/Stamina +4 Defense
With material modifiers, you can get a +1 or +2 additional overall bonus to Defense.
Arcane Basic Attack: Gain +2 damage at levels 5 and 7, and +1 damage at level 10
Tier 3: Gain one at level 3, and one at level 7
Tier 2: Gain one at level 5, and one at level 10
Tier 1: Gain one at level 9
